Why a per-city page matters when Kp is planetary: while the index is the same everywhere, the local impact depends on geomagnetic latitude — the angle between the point on Earth and the geomagnetic dipole axis. At 67° a minor G1 storm already triggers auroras; at 43° the effect is barely noticeable.
